I keep hearing about scrapbooking. What is it exactly? I mean, do the scrapbooks have a purpose? Are they scrapbooks of whatever person's life or a specific hobby (like, um, 'Me and a Canoe Summer '04' or something)?

As defined by the wikipedia:
Making scrapbooks is a hobby relating to pasting newspaper clippings, magazine articles, photos, usually personal, or other memorabilia into custom-decorated albums, or scrapbooks. The hobby has grown in recent years. In many locations, groups of hobbyists called "scrappers" get together and scrapbook in many venues such as conventions, hotel conferences, beach retreats, mountain retreats and even on cruises.
